Asparagus with Garlic Reaper Umami Blend Crust

Create thin, crispy, spicy asparagus with Guided By Mushrooms Garlic Reaper Umami Spice Blend. Use of a baking sheet with a raised grate is helpful for creating air space around the asparagus. Lining the baking sheet with parchment paper makes clean up super easy. Many people make a recipe like this one using powdered parmesan cheese. Our Garlic Reaper Umami Spice Blend provides a similar crust, without the immense saltiness or dairy content of parmesan cheese, making it a fantastic alternative for vegan diets. 


  • 1 pound asparagus
  • Nonstick cooking spray (Avocado oil works wonderful here)
  • ¼ cup Guided By Mushrooms Garlic Reaper Umami Spice Blend
  • salt and pepper, to taste


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the raised grate over the parchment paper
  3. Cut the rough ends off the asparagus and place on the grate
  4. Generously spray nonstick cooking spray on top of asparagus
  5. Sprinkle Guided By Mushrooms Garlic Reaper Umami Spice Blend in an even layer on top of asparagus
  6. Season with salt and pepper, to taste
  7. Spray a final layer of nonstick cooking spray over the coated asparagus
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and asparagus can be easily pierced with a fork
  9. Remove from oven and let set before removing from the grate – about 3-4 minutes
  10. Serve as a side or with a garlic aioli dipping sauce
