Reishi Mushrooms
Known as the “Mushroom of Immortality” in Chinese, Reishi has been used for thousands of years to promote vitality and long-term overall health. Reishi has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for more than 4,000 years. The Chinese name lingzhi means “herb of spiritual potency.” A Japanese name for the reishi is mannentake, meaning “10,000-year-old mushroom.” Reishi’s use is documented in the oldest Chinese medical text, which is more than 2,000 years old.
Fresh Reishi is commonly harvested for use in teas, tinctures, and other extracts in order to unlock its value.
How our tinctures are made
GBM tinctures are made from 100 percent full fruiting bodies. The mushrooms are cultivated on our mushroom farm in Southwestern Ohio and are free of any kinds of pesticides or unnatural ingredients.
Some of the compounds of medicinal mushrooms must be extracted using water, and others need to be extracted using alcohol. We cook the mushrooms in water at a low temperature, strain them, and then soak them in Everclear Grain Alcohol for 4-6 weeks to extract all the beneficial alcohol-soluble compounds. Water and alcohol extractions were used to make these tinctures, making them double extraction tinctures that contain both the water-soluble and the alcohol-soluble properties of reishi mushrooms.
Dosing and usage recommendation:
Recommend serving: between 1m (about 30 drops), 1-2 times daily, or as needed.
Tinctures are best mixed with a liquid to dilute the concentrated flavor – add to tea, coffee, cocoa and other hot beverages (the heat will cause the alcohol to evaporate leaving the beneficial compounds in the cup for you to drink), add to smoothies, oatmeal, soups, salad dressing and anything else you would like.
Our tincture is 30% alcohol by volume.
