
Help Wanted: Production Assistant / Mycology Lab Worker
Guided By Mushrooms is a worker-owned and operated mushroom farm in Dayton, Ohio. We service grocery stores, restaurants, and chefs across the region with the finest locally grown gourmet and medicinal mushrooms.
We are seeking a Production Assistant / Mycology Lab Worker for the upcoming summer to join our small but passionate team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in mushroom cultivation while contributing to a supportive, mission-driven workplace.
POSITION DETAILS
- Position Title: Production Assistant / Mycology Lab Worker
- Location: 278 East Main Street, New Lebanon, OH 45345
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Schedule Expectations: 40 hours weekly
- Reports To: General Manager
- Start Date: Immediately upon hire
- Compensation: $15-18/hour + profit bonuses
- Benefits: Two paid weeks of vacation per year (for full-time employees)
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Production Assistant / Mycology Lab Worker will support mushroom cultivation and production operations, including:
- Processing mushrooms for distribution to customers and markets.
- Assisting in pouring mushroom bags using the automated bagging machine.
- Loading and unloading mushroom bags into and out of sterilization equipment.
- Working in the clean lab inoculating substrate for mushroom production.
- Cleaning work areas and performing other production duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates the following:
- Familiarity with mushroom cultivation processes (preferred, not required).
- Ability to work on your feet and lift up to 50 lbs when needed.
- Attention to detail in a clean lab environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a farm production setting.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically with a scientific mindset.
