Guided by Mushrooms believes in helping our community. One of the ways we do this is by donating mushrooms to The House of Bread in Dayton, a kitchen that serves up 300+ free meals for people in need on a daily basis in our hometown of Dayton, Ohio.   Mushrooms for meals at HOB can be sponsored for $10 a lb, and are completely tax deductible. You will be provided with a receipt for your donation at the end of the year from The House of Bread in your email box.

GBM UMAMI BLENDS

Guided By Mushrooms presents GBM Umami Blends, a line of specialty mushroom powder spice blends that will impart umami to your favorite foods.   GBM Umami Blends are made with beautiful gourmet mushrooms grown at our farm in Dayton, Ohio. The mushrooms are dried, milled to a fine powder, and then mixed with a variety of spices that will add a lovely umami taste to any style of cuisine.

Use GBM Umami Blends on meat, chicken, fish, pasta, rice or any other grain, or add to soups and stews for a hit of umami flavor. Mix with softened butter for a delicious spread for bread or as a finishing touch for steak, pork, fish or chicken, and make popcorn that is out of this world.  

We currently offer 10 varieties of GBM Umami Blends:

Garlic Reaper: a blend of oyster mushroom powder with garlic powder and a hint of Carolina reaper pepper. Don’t worry! The reaper won’t burn your face off! Instead, it gives a slightly spicy tickle on the back of your tongue.

Audrissa: a blend of oyster mushroom powder with Audra’s personal harissa spice recipe. This blend has a spicy kick to it, containing chili powder, cayenne pepper, and Carolina reaper pepper.

World Blend: a blend of oyster mushroom powder with coriander, cumin, and rainbow peppercorns. This blend is quite versatile as it can go into Mexican, Spanish, Indian, different African cuisines and many other styles of cuisine.

Garam Masala Blend: a blend of oyster mushroom powder and traditional warm Indian spices .

Greek Blend: a blend of oyster mushroom powder and familiar Greek herbs

Oyster Mushroom Powder: our oyster mushroom blend with no seasoning. Use a little for a subtle umami flavor or use a lot to really taste the mushrooms! 

Lion’s Mane Powder: just lion’s mane mushrooms. Lion’s mane has a mild flavor so it can be used in savory or sweet foods

Chestnut Mushroom Salt: Chestnut mushrooms have a nutty, earthy flavor when fresh, and a beefy, peppery flavor when dried.

Nameko Mushroom Salt: Dried nameko mushrooms have a nutty, slightly buttery, earthy flavor

Piopinno Mushroom Salt: Dried piopinno mushrooms have a toasty, earthy flavor

Guided By Mushrooms is offering a way for residents of Montgomery County, Ohio to purchase mushrooms directly through our farm for your neighborhood, work or civic group through the Guided By Mushrooms Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA).   Sign up now to receive alerts when we post mushrooms.   

How it works:   You and you neighbors, co-workers or friends pool your resources together to purchase mushrooms for our wholesale price. There is a minimum 5 lb purchase requirement for our CSA.
